Located in the community of Hacienda Heights, the Hacienda Hills area of the Preserve features the steep terrain and densely vegetated Puma, Toyon, and Coyote Canyons (formerly known as Canyons 6, 7, and 8). The aspect of the slopes provide a shady environment where coast live oak woodland and toyon-sumac chaparral thrive, offering an intimate, tranquil setting for hikers and joggers on some of the trails. The trail network in this area can be accessed via a gated trailhead at the intersection of 7th and Orange Grove Avenues which leads to the Ahwingna Trail. The Hacienda Hills Trailhead provides onsite parking (additional offsite street parking is available nearby), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) access, a horse stepover, drinking fountain, and a restroom. Near the trailhead, educational kiosks can be found along the meandering ADA-friendly decomposed granite trail describing the bioswale and habitat that was created by the Habitat Authority.
