Chair
Ivan Sulic represents the Los Angeles County Supervisor of the Fourth District, Janice Hahn, in the cities of Norwalk, Downey, Whittier, La Mirada, Santa Fe Springs and Los Nietos. He is also the Supervisor’s Deputy for Homeless Initiatives and Outreach and Deputy for Unincorporated Services. Ivan was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2017.
Mr. Sulic’s alternate is Lauren Yokomizo, who also works for Supervisor Hahn representing La Habra Heights and Diamond Bar, and in the communities of Rowland Heights and Hacienda Heights. She was appointed as Alternate in 2017.
Vice Chair
Robert Ferrante is the Chief Engineer and General Manager of the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County. He became Assistant Chief Engineer and Assistant General Manager in January 2012. He was also appointed to the Board of Directors as an Alternate Director in 2012, and became full Director in 2019.
Mr. Ferrante’s alternate is Mark Revilla, Solid Waste Department Head at Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County. He was appointed as Alternate in 2022.
Director
Mary Ann Pacheco is a member of the Whittier City Council, and was appointed as a Board Member in May 2024. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English and Ethnic Studies from the University of Southern California and her Master’s Degree in English from the University of California, Los Angeles. A dedicated member of Rio Hondo College’s faculty for 38 years, she held several leadership positions, including President of the Academic Senate and the Rio Hondo College Faculty Association. Following her retirement, Mary Ann was honored as a Fellow of the College and elected to the College’s Board of Trustees for a five-year term. Additionally, she has gained national recognition as an educational leader earning prestigious awards including the Cesar E. Chavez Awards from the California Teachers Association and the National Education Association. She has lived in Whittier for over 40 years.
Ms. Pacheco’s alternate on this Board is Octavio Martinez, who is a member of the Whittier City Council and was appointed as Alternate in April 2022.
Director
Andrew Yip is from Hacienda Heights and is a lifetime member of the Hacienda Heights Improvement Association. He joined the United States Army at the age of 17 and was honorably discharged in 2015. He worked at Active San Gabriel Valley as a Program Specialist, advocating for safer streets, public transit, and public lands. Currently, as a Senior Veterans Fellow with the National Parks Conservation Association, he works on issues related to National Parks and the engagement of Veterans. He was appointed to the Board of Directors as an Alternate Director in July 2022, and became full Director in July 2023.
Mr. Yip’s alternate on this Board is Gabriel Monares, appointed as Alternate in August 2023.
We are grateful to our past board members who dedicated many hours of their time to help guide the Habitat Authority during its formative years and beyond. They have hailed from the public sector, for-profit spaces, and community organizing world. They have provided a strong foundation for our passion of preserving the hills for generations to come.
